Give a Jumpstart is an organization of women dedicated to improving the lives of women and children in Africa through grants and microloans that support education and the establishment of small businesses.

What We Do

   Give a Jumpstart aims to improve the educational opportunities of children who have lost one or both parents to AIDS by giving women and schools a start — a jumpstart — in initiating their own businesses.

   We see ourselves as women investors, investing in women. We provide interest-free loans or one-time grants to women who wish to establish a small business. We believe a healthy dose of self-interest is the best guarantee of success. Our goal is to help local women establish a source of income and to become self-sufficient. 

   Give a Jumpstart requires that the business be conceived, planned, and carried out locally. We demand accountability and transparency from our beneficiaries, and a commitment to benefiting the community as well as the individual. We monitor all projects we have financed and continue to work closely with those involved to guarantee success in their ventures. Give a Jumpstart is nonprofit and nondenominational.
